I am replacing both Q-jet carbs on a '79 Carver. Crusader CH270's 3K+ hours (original engines - the reverse rotating is serial # 28489 - don't have the other with me).
I picked the boat up for a song as a project. Replacing the carbs is just part of the work the old girl is getting. Both carbs are physically beat up. I'm not interested in rebuilding them or having them rebuilt.
I thought about going to Edlebrock's but feel better sticking with factory configurations - I'm not into high performance. Just easy cruising.
I'm considering Flying Fish or SMI carbs. Reviews seem to be pretty good for both - and both have a couple negative reviews as well. Not much for current reviews.
Any experience with either of them? Good? Bad?
