Ok, so i am trying to drain and replace the oil out of the foot on my Yamaha I/O. I. Think the previous owner may have over tightened the vent screw on top. I got the drain screw out, but the vent I simply cannot get to break open. Even tried tapping with a hammer on the end of the screwdriver as I turned. Nothing.

Never have had this issue on my outboard.

Any suggestions to get. That screw to break loose?

Thanks,
SM

Thanks guys! Was wondering if it being aluminum if hitting it too hard might mess it up. The post answers my question on that front. Also, I was wondering if there was something that would fit on the end of my 1/2" electric impact wrench that would hold a screwdriver bit. It looks like this uses something similar. If there is no such animal for my impact wrench, then $30 is a cheap price to pay! Thanks for the help!

If you haven't messed up the slot too much yet, put a vise grip on your biggest screwdriver to get more leverage.
