Hello:
I just bought an unusual Lone Star boat. Nobody knows what it is. We do know what it isn't . Anyhow, it has the Crosley motor and drive train. Problem is, the rudder is missing and the rudder supports the drive shaft. Anyone know anybody that may have Aerojet parts ?

Howdy,

Welcome aboard!

That is VERY cool!!

I have no idea where you might find parts for that thing. EBAY maybe?

You might also have to just fabricate what you need. You might find someone that has a machine shop and see what they can do for you. Otherwise you'd have to "start-over" with something more modern. (newer engine, Velvet drive, etc)

Here's what I found in a search...

Lots of stuff on the internet!!

Good luck,

Rick, thank you very much ! I have found out it is a Star Jet. I think I may have a few links to the rudder ! I'll keep in touch !

Re: I need an Aerojet rudder

Hi
I looked at that boat just before you.

I did a lot of internet research on it . I found the engine is an aerojet general V-drive. Possibly sold later by Faogol racing.

The engine its self is a crossley. early ones were silver soldered sheet metal. later ones (like yours) had a regular cast block which was better for internal corrosion protection. There is a guy that sells the outboard version of the crossley which were called bearcats
(later) or homelite (early) - this gut restores them to as new and sells them - it looks like he keeps quite a few in stock. just google "bearcat 55 hp" and you will run into his web page. Might ask him about the rudder problem.

The boat appeared to me to be identicle to a lone star "admiral" model - with the exception of the rear hood that was added.

Did the fellow tell you about the woman he bought it from ?

Private message me fi you want to compare notes on that "situation" !

I live in Orlando and have rescently met a feathercraft collector named Robert M. Do you know him ? He has 3 or 4 of them.
I am restoring a 56 orlando clipper and my cousin is doing a 1961 lone star malabu

I was looking at the inside of the transom. That thick plate had lots of corrosion but it was just a piece of plate with some holes. EASY to reproduce. But you might wonder what the skin looks like on the transom skin that it was touching.

If I can help you please let me know !

Hey Tim, I did not hear the story about the woman. I'll send ya a message. The transom piece that you mention. I thought it was corroded too. It's not, it's Asbestos !! Some type of firewall or something. Came right off. Still looking for the rudder. Have met some interesting people in the search.
