I have emailed with Capt Ken a couple times, and figured out that the shift interrupt switch is causing my boat to die when i move the shift lever into fwd or rev. I don't, however know what exactly needs to be done to fix it, or what is the exact problem. with the switch disconnected, it shifts fine, so i know the switch isn't operating correctly, but i don't know if the switch itself is the problem, or something in the linkage. any wisdom would be appreciated.

9 times out of 10 it's a worn out shift cable that's causing to much drag and causing the shift interupt switch plate to activate and stay on. Your going to need to source a new lower shift cable from someplace.

working now. on closer inspection the eyelet that attaches the lower shift cable to the switch plate only had one or 2 turns onto the slide. followed what capt. ken said and counted 17 turns. works perfect now.
