I have a Yamaha I/O 305 not yems.
I just replaced the starter and now I think my relay is bad. after changing the starter i was able to crank the engine over and it would start but once I released the key form the crank position it would die (like all power was shut off). After 3 -4 tries the starter wouldn?t crank anymore and all i heard was a click from the relay. i have tightened everything on the relay but still only clicking. Maybe one out of ten times it will crank but again when i release the key it dies.
Would a bad relay stop power to the engine after releasing the key?
Any ideas?
Thanks
