My boat is a 1974 Coronet with twin Chrysler 318's connected to Paragon PV33 trans. My question is what do the numbers represent, I'm thinking of replacing or rebuilding the trans, I found a Paragon PMV20, so what's the difference, it appears to be the same outwardly, I also can get a pair of PV31's Both of these trans would be cheaper then rebuilding, but what do the varies numbers mean, torque or something

This PDF on page 34 has some decoding of the Paragon model numbers - http://marinegears.com/catalog/TMI_catalog_wm.pdf

If I read the charts correctly, V mean V drive, the next number is the horsepower rating and the final number is the gear ratio. The Paragon section starts on page 31 and the entire section may have other information.
