White-ish exhaust...

1988 Crusader 454 (350HP). Port engine blew a rod through the block. My son and I noticed some white in the exhaust, but it dissipated after an hour or so of use. It was an hour later that the engine gave out. Son also mentioned there was some white-ish exhaust from the starboard side, too. Is this an indication of an exhaust manifold leak? Is there a way of pressure chiecking for leaks like a radiator or inter-cooler?

Sorry we missed your post, the white coming out the exhaust is probably water. You can pressure test the manifolds but just need to seal up the holes to do it. many just pour acetone in the water jacket and see if it leaks out. Acetone will flow thru a small crack where water will not unless under pressure
