on a stringer coupler on a 120 4 cly chev is it rubber mounted or solid ? when we were out with the pontoon the engine would rev to 5000 and we would go no were it think it is the prop rubber but I don,t know if the coupler is mounted in rubber

Could be the prop hub or it's possible the splines ground down on your drive shaft in the lower unit. Do you have a spare prop to try?

i,m going to get a spare prop just in case that is it i cant tell if the hub is rubber mount or not thanks for the reply

Yes, your prop could have a bad hub. But the splines on that shaft are also notorious for getting worn down.
