Smoking by exaust

1987 460 giving me a headache , under way at 3000 rpm or higher their is smoke coming from the starboard side below valve cover ( smells like oil ) throught it may be a exaust leak . Changed the exaust gasket and the valve cover gasket still the problem persists . The valve cove gasket is the rubber one with no sealer , the original one was cork ,with the tin covers is cork the way to go ? With sealer or none . Motor runs 100% no over heating never has . Any advice on the cause or any input would be appreciated . Thinking Mercruiser for the winter

Changed the exaust gasket and the valve cover gasket still the problem persists .

Ayuh,.... So is it still leakin', or not,..??

Is there oil present in the area,..??

I use nothin' but the rubber gaskets, dry now-a-days,...

It's leaking somewhere no residue I can see
