What OMC 5.0 1973 225 HO

We have an '73 5 liter V8 with 225 hp OMC with GM block. Is that a 305 or 307? we have a 4-fold Quadrajet. Search for information about something Tuning. Heads etc.

Unfortunately my english is not sooo good. Greetings from Germany.

look at the casting number on the side of the block just above the oil filter boss, however it should be a 307 for that year, however I have also found literature calling out a 305

GM began making the 305 in 1976.

Even though Chevrolet stopped 307s after 1973, they continued to sell to OMC 307 engines through 1976. Meanwhile Chevrolet introduced the 305 for 1976 models, meaning the 305 engine was release for GM passenger cars in September 1975. Despite that, OMC still used the 307 through 1976.
