1986 4.3 Cobra
New long block
Ready to add oil and prime the engine.
Should I use the 30 or 40 weight or what?
I'm not much on synthetic oils or at least I've never used any.

sure, OMC called for 30 so that will certainly work
or 20W50, 25W40 also very similar weight oils to the 30.

TKS,
Well doesn't matter now. The new long block they send did not have the adapter or whatever u call that the oil filter screws on. Tried to get old out of bad block but no luck. I have bought many short and long blocks and Never was it not on the new block. The more I deal with this new block the more I worry about being Had.
We Will see!

You should be able to get an oil filter mounting adapter from Summit and/or several different auto parts outlets.......Even Amazon can get them............

Use a breakin oil.
Royal Purple is an expensive one but the best!!
Contact them.
Amsoil is good too.
Even Coach Joe Gibbs makes/sells a breakin oil.
