I have a 400 OMC outdrive.
In changing the water impeller there is a large 'O' that sits around the waterpump housing. I do not see how this seals any water
out of anywhere as it seems to not touch any metal walls.

I also would like to know about sealing the spline shaft seal to the shaft with epoxy. Is this duo to
the seal not being 100% of a seal to the splines?

If you're talking about the ring I think you are, that's the exhaust housing seal ... doesn't seal water.

I've never used epoxy on a seal in the upper gear case that I can think of.

I think there might be an o-ring that seals the smooth plate to the impeller housing but I can't remember. I never used epoxy on the spline seal, just a dab of thick grease to hold it in place when re-assembling.
