1987 OMC Cobra Outdrive Problem

I am brand new to boating and got myself a 1987 Bayliner Capri. It has a bent shift cable (the one that goes thru the transom) so I need to replace it. The part# I have come up with is 0987662 and 987661. 0987662 does say it?s for an 87 at about $300 and the 0987661 also says it will work for an 87 on most websites but its $100. So what is the difference between the two and why the 0987662 $200 is more than the 0987661?

987661 should be what you need they have it here for 97.00. Not sure about the other one for 300.00 but might be for the king cobra, just make sure you get the 2 tools for installing the transom shift cable...
