1987 3.0 OMC motor

Hello everyone. First time boater here (1987 Sea Sprite 3.0 omc). Got the boat for almost free but I just found that the oil is like chocolate milk. Does this mean that the motor is junk? If so, How can I check if the outboard is good? Thanks for all the information and help.

Milky engine oil is almost always due to a cracked engine block from improper or no winterization.

The outdrive, or sterndrive (not outboard) can only be tested by running it.
You can check the gear lube for metal, and water, but that doesn't really tell you if it will work or not.

They are almost free for a reason, they are junk.
