permatex form a gasket on outdrive yes or no?

hi all,just bought my first boat 88 bayliner capri br 3.0 omc ,im doing maint on outdrive seals ,bellows ect.when i put outdrive back on should i put permatex form a gasket on both sides of gasket and flanges ? Im thinking yes to make a better seal,what do you all think?

Same here, I goop both sides. Helps hold the gasket in place as well.

I used the blue permatex, worked great, no leaks.

I will be a little different here. I use the permatex aviation form a gasket. It never really dries, but it sure gets sticky. The thing I dont like about rtv is the removal of it. But ya know, I think either will work just fine.

Same here cleans up easier.
