Hey guys, Still working on removing everything from the back of the boat to check the transom and replace the transom seal. Waiting on the steering arm puller to get delivered to remove the gimbal ring. Do I have to remove the gimbal bearing and pivot bearing to remove the transom bracket to check the seal and the condition of the transom? Following the OMC repair manual, looks like I do but it also states to only remove if needing to replace. I don't need to replace, I just need to get the transom plate off.

Shouldn't have to remove the gimbal bearing.

nope, just turn the out drive to the hard right, you will see a large allen head screw. just remove it, then turn to hard left and do the same. be sure to remove the out drive first.
