Gear oil coming from exhaust bellows and sloppy lift pistons (5.7 Cobra)

Hey everyone. I have 2 OMC Cobra questions.

First, I see there are prefab holes in the exhaust bellows at the rear most portion of the bellows, there is a lot of gear oil leaking from there. I'm guessing a blown seal or cracked case. I plan on pulling the drive to find out, but I wanted to know if anyone could point me in the right direction as a search came up with not much,

Second, I can lift my drive up and down and the pistons are just flopping around. I'm thinking air in the cylinders, low on oil, or design? Should I be able to lift the drive up when it is in the downwards position? Hydraulic law and physics say no... thoughts?

Ayuh,... Yes, the bellows are supposed to have slits...
No, there shouldn't be oil leakin' from 'em...
It's probably leakin' from the drive, 'n the only way to know from where, is to Look...

'n,... Yes, you have a trim Problem...No, it shouldn't do that...
