This engine runs good but is hard to start on a cold morning. It has an automatic choke. I need suggestions on adjusting it or whatever will get it fired up in the chill here in the Great Lake State (Michigan).

It cranks like it is not getting enough fuel.

I have not done that. So we should advance the throttle handle to wide open then return it to neutral and the choke will be set. Also the carb can be pumped by pumping the trottle a couple times?

Ayuh,... Generally speakin',... on a Carbed motor...
Cold start,...
I go Wot, then about 1/4 to 1/2, til she Lights, then pull back to a Hi-Idle, say, 1000 rpms...

Warm start, I go to 1/4, to 1/2, then hit the key...

With this four winds it will not crank unless it is in neutral. I have a bass boat with 150 hp merc that I can keep in neutral and advance the throttle 1/4 and it fires up. But with the four winds the throttle is straight up or it wount crank.

Ayuh,... It SHOULD have a By-pass built in...

Pull out on the handle, or push in on a button, or Somethin'.....

Never seen a controller without it...

I am sure you are correct on the by pass. I will figure it out. Thanks. I have puttered with about 100 boats since joining the forum and could not have done the things I've done without you folks.
