I have the 1995 OMC 5.0.
Manual calls for 30 weight oil and I only do summer boating so have been using that.
I have been using Sierra - Marine Sterndrive Sae30: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000N9LQH4
Just happened that local auto part store has some sae30 on clearance at WAY better pricing... $60 for Gallon (after exchange rate) compare to $60 for 5 gallons on sale but generic brand..
Should I got for it? Oil is oil right? :) [h=2]FEATURES

Well the Sierra is a full Syn oil so it will have to cost more but the basic straight 30 should be fine. The SYN's advsntsge would be if the boat was used for constant high speed use ..

Your engine needs engine oil, not gear (sterndrive) oil. They are different. Google gear oil verses engine oil.

What's interesting about the link is the title says sterndrive oil, but the picture of the jug says engine oil. I would just use regular dino SAE 30 engine oil, like the manual states.
