I have a Four Winns freedom 190 with a 4.3L OMC and cobra drive. I purchased and installed a thermostat kit sierra part number sierra 18-3653 last summer. I believe this is a 160 deg-F thermostat. The water temperature gage indicates 160 deg-F to 170 deg-F when out on the lake all day. I think the motor cooling system is operating properly. I'm thinking about installing an OMC thermostat #3853983 to lower the engine operating water temperature. I believe the thermostats are interchangeable. I believe pn 3853983 is a 140 deg-F thermostat. Should I try and lower the engine operating water temperature?
