I had a friend help me this past weekend and thought he knew what he was doing, so I had him change the lower unit oil, and when I got back to him, he had knocked the freeze plug on the opposite side of lower unit back into the housing!! Is this a problem, or should I just put in a new one and carry on?

You are probably talking about the "do not remove" plug on the port side of the drive. Have a picture?

Yes it was the do not remove plug, and I have since fixed the problem! Thank for your input!

I have to say, your "friend" is the very reason they were forced to put warnings on Windex Bottles that say, "Do Not Spray In Your Eyes". Sad isn't it!
