Hi all, before I trash this 2.3 Cobra set up I have I'd like to at least test the manifolds. I have the exhaust and riser off. The outside looks good visually and the insides are rusted up quite a bit. I've heard about using Acetone. Can I fill up the exhaust ports to see if it leaks? What's the best way to test it? Thanks

take manifold off boat. block off hose feeding water to manifold. fill manifold water jacket with acetone and let sit for a few hours. there should be no change in fluid height.

any cracks will be evident by the acetone fluid level lowering.

also a visual test. if the gasket surface where the manifold meets the riser is rusty, anywhere where the metal is thinner than 3/16" it needs to be replaced. if its thicker, clean up gasket mating surfaces with a large flat file
