trim motor

Good afternoon,

1990 omc cobra 2.3l
When i push the thumb control to lower or raise the lower end unit, you can hear the (what sounds like a solenoid clicking inside the sealed box where the trip button is located,) but i am not sure.
it worked briefly up and down then quit.
thoughts?
Also,
should the drive be fully up or down to safly remove the hydrollic lines from the trim unit

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... I'd start by checkin', 'n cleanin' all the wirin' connections from the trim motor, to the solenoids, to the switch,...
Probably just abit of corrosion somewhere,...

The drive weighs 'bout 80/ 90 lbs,...
You can disconnect the rams at 'bout any trim, ya just gotta manhandle the drive,....
But at full down, the hyd. system is "at rest",.... no pressure anywhere,...
