1991 OMC Cobra Outdrive 5.7 liter

I was getting ready to take my boat out on the water, and I noticed two holes in the outdrive. I looked at the other side of the outdrive, and there seems to be a cap (feels like a fragile cap). My niece took close-up photos. If the photos are not helpful, I'll take new ones.

What is being capped? What would happen if water got in there? Is there any place I can purchase this part?

Sorry for asking a lot of questions. Thanks for any help or advice.

It seems I'm missing the following:

GLM #23360 OMC Cobra Shim
GLM #12662 Thrust plate - Starboard
GLM #21773 Retainer ring

Howdy,

It might help if you post your model number. Your drive could be either a 90 or a 91 model (although the picture appears to be a Dog-clutch Cobra) It would help for other parts needs.,.,.

Those GLM parts you indicate are correct. Sierra probably has them too, The shim and plate go on both sides, and center the drive in the gimbal ring. I wouldn't run it with out them because the drive is centered in the gimbal when BOTH are installed......and I would probably replace both sides if the other side is worn.

I found multiple sources with a Google search. Amazon was at the top of the list.

Sierra probably has them in their catalog too!

Regards,

Rick
