I have a 91 deck boat skideck with a 4.3 litre omc. The shift cable is stripped out at the engine end where it connects to the linkage for the throttle control. As seen in the picture. Is there any way I can permanently reconnect this? I would rather not replace the whole shift cable if possible.

Howdy,

Welcome aboard!

Um, NO. Those lower shift cables are really not repairable.......You MUST replace the cable. It is absolutely NOT worth trying to fix it. You risk damaging the drive if you try to "fix" a damaged cable.

Also, it looks like your picture is of a black lower shift cable. It needs to be replaced anyway!

Cheers,

Rick
