Guys, got tired of screwing around with points. Went ahead and purchased an ignition conversion kit by Sierra. Installation does not look complicated, but would I need to upgrade my ESA module? Or can I run with the original?
Or you can fabricate this simple circuit that will allow it to work at a cost of a few dollars. A new ESA module is rather expensive. In fact, I did two of these last year and can send you the resistors and diodes on me if you like. I have a bunch of extras.
A very helpful member here turned me on to this last season. He used pins and plugs for connections. I soldered and heat shrink tubed mine. Have a look:
You're essentially putting the circuit inline in the gray wire and connecting it to a ground.
The Sierra unit that you bought is actually a Pertronics unit and they will honor the warranty as well as provide tech support if needed.
