1988 Bayliner Capri 1950 OMC 5.0L 305 I/O stern drive. I just got it running (hooked water hose and muffs to it) let it run. Smelled burnt oil after a min so I **** off. Then noticed fluid draining from the side of my motor into bilge. I felt it and it was pretty warm and couldn't really smell anything (I have terrible noise anyways). I am stumped. I cannot find anything online. I've thought that maybe there's supposed to be a plug there? My friend thought there's supposed to be a metal line there to take the fluid somewhere else. Idk. Best I can remember it was threaded. I do have pics. Please help!! If you are in the boat, facing the motor, it is on the left side of the motor. Beside the starter. Thanks

there should be a plug on both sides of the motor, and one in each of the manifolds.

didnt you notice water running out of there?

Is this the exhaust manifold? Cooling lines are often symmetrical, so if you have a hose on your SS you would have one on your PS. More pictures?

If it is the exhaust manifold, the hole is most probably a over flow from the water jacket at the exhaust elbow. It keeps back pressure from building in the exhaust pipe when the water jacket if full but not being carried out of the exhaust fast enough: open-loop cooling only.

No Title

I was told it was the block drain. I took more pictures and I took a picture on the opposite side. I was told there's on over there too and I found something similar and it was empty as well

Remember to take them out and drain you block if you live where it freezes
