When I shift my starboard motor into gear (reverse or drive) - it stalls. But once we get underway(2500/3000rpm) its smooth and hums along.
Port side - no issues - yet !

I noticed the other day when I got to 3000 I hear a "Click" - and the shifter could be pushed forward - but - rpm stayed fixed at 3000. Ran perfect just did not increase any further.

As soon as I back it down near idle area - it stalls.

So I took it back up to 3000 and cruised - every so often heard the "Click" - like a metallic switch type click.

A friend said it could be something with the secondary shift cable -

I know that cable goes from the carb bracket to the out drive. What would be a logical next step ?

So far this 1989 has taught me I didn't know as much about boats as I thought. Worked on many cars - fords mainly. Boats are perplexing when it comes to electrical and such - but its truly enjoyable so far.

Help !
Thanks
