im going to look at a 1979 Johnson 35, long shaft remote, electric start. he wants 200. from the pictures it looks fair on the exterior, but it has been sitting for several years. Comes with throttle/shift control, but the guy doesnt think he has the battery cables anymore. im curious what i should look for on these motors, and what kind of offer i should give him.
im well aware itll need carbs rebuilt, ignition went through, and new water pump, and i can modifiy the electrical without too much problem if he cant find the wiring harness. im just looking for something to put on my junkyard salvaged runabout

$200 is a good price for something that is basically complete and needs just tune-up stuff. You can easily get your money back out of it at that price...

If the control box is a single lever one it's worth $50-75.00 all day. If the lower unit works correctly and shifts that's worth another $100-125.00 so even if it doesn't run it's worth the $200.00
