Hi all. I've just joined the forum as I have recently bought a Leisure23sl with a Johnson 9.9 outboard. My question is where is the lock or tension adjuster to lock the outboard in the central position so that it won't turn by the tiller, as I am being launched on Friday.
Thanks in advance
Mel.

If your talking about locking the motor so it stays in straight line, I do not think it works that way. What year motor are you inquiring about?

I think its a 1996. On my last outboard a Honda 5hp 4 stroke it had a bolt on the side that when tightened stopped the motor turning so that the boat stayed straight and steered by the tiller of the boat.

Sorry my motors are 20 years older or more than that. And I do not have that type of locking device. Maybe somebody else can help you.

There is a friction adjustment screw on the swivel bracket underneath the power head. You may want to try tightening that up.
