my boat has a 1987 140hp Suzuki dt engine. and need to be replace.
I have found 2 possible replacement

or a 1999 130HP Honda engine with controls low hours under 100hours

witch one would you guys recommend ?

I'm not crazy about 4 strokes; but I would go with the low hours apparently proven motor.

supposely I did the compression test wrong by doing it cold when the engine had been sitting over a year. the local shop ran the engine to normal temps then did the test 182 182 167 172
does that make any sense ?????

My info indicates Suzuki is 383 lbs,Honda 458.
It appears that Honda is a load

Yes, but no. You can put it on there, but performance will be poor and it may create handling issues. You need to stick with 20"shaft unless you want to raise the transom.

thank you! I have spoken to the Honda dealer that worked on it last and they informed me it needs a trim motor + 25'' is not recommended so I have pass on the buy. even if the engine only has 100Hours and the guys gives all the controls for 3500$ the trim motor is 2500$ so it becomes to much for me.
