tempo prop lock

I bought a used boat that has a stainless prop that last owner hit a few times . The thing has a propeller lock on it and I'm wondering if a guy can drill out the key for it and will it release. I think it's a tempo brand , looks like a socket with a slotted cap over the key slot . Or any other ideas .Bill

Hi ,<br />I have the almost the same type of locking prop nut , and I cannot remove it . It just keeps turning . Im afriad I sheared it braking it loose . It was on the motor when I got it , I dont why anyone with a brain would put one of these on a prop , it would be fun tring to get a lock off float on the lake . Anyway , if anyone can tell me how to get it off short of a cuuting torch or drilling holes and inserting pins to turn the prop nut please let me know !<br />Thanks
