EFI engines are more expensive than carburated to buy and I am looking to save money on my repowering project... This brings aspects of maintanenece, gas consumption, resale value etc. Whats your opinion?

Carbs can make as much power as EFI. Carbs are relatively maintenance/DIY repair friendly, EFI not so friendly. Fuel consumption be close with the EFI slightly better. Resale... factory EFI can add value. DIY EFI would probably lower the value.

What hp are you looking at? high hp, it not worth the effort. The saving is in 2 stroke DFI and 4 stroke if you burn enough fuel

Need more info. Are you buying a brand new outboard? What horsepower? What country are you in?

Sorry, posted in wrong forum... Supposed to post in I/O forum. Mods, can you move me to I/O Non-repair forum? Thx.

For the record my engines are VP 4.3 Gi PEFS, year 2000, looking to repower with Mercs and saw about $500 - 1K price difference between carburated and EFI Merc. Thank you again. Country: USA.
