Hi, the 300 Opti is the same weight as the 225 just wondering if the hull would be stable at the higher speed or any other possible problems. I want a windshield and not interested in a bass boat. I go fishing, skiing and want to get my speed fix in!

depends what you're putting it on, and what the boat hull is rated for.

Welcome to iboats.

No. It will damage the boat and risk your life.

]skyval,

I have a experience with that platform and can tell you the boat will handle the power and weight of the 300 Optimax XS. The 188s and 288s are heavy barges, but they do have a pad and will remain stable at higher speeds. I wouldn't expect a 300 powered 288 to run much over 70 though.

That being said I wouldn't recommend putting a motor with a higher rating than the capacity plate for a whole host of reasons. Most noted above. The Optimax 225 Pro XS is a beast of a motor making closer to 250HP and would still get that boat in the mid 60's and you would be legal. It also carries a better warranty than the racing XS model.

If you really want a 300HP powered fish and ski check out the Charger F&S 475

Thanks ,the charger looks like a good boat but I cant find many boats out there and no decent interior pics of options like built in cooler, folding/removable chairs. I am looking at a used boat and from Ontario so I am not worried about warranty or overpowering laws.
Both the 225 and the 300 Optimax are 505 pounds and the 225 prox is almost 250 hp so what's another 50-60hp?!! 5-10 mph!!!

On that type of boat you're looking about 1 MPH gain for every 10 HP. What kind of top speed are you looking to achieve? Allison makes a nasty fish and ski called the XB-21 ProSport SUB. They are hard to find and expensive but are probably the fastest boat of that type you'll find.
