hi there, i just sold off my 40ft symbol with twin cummins 8.3 480 hp 6 in line engines and im looking now at a very different kind of boat im looking at a 1985 seavee 24 with twin 2006 150xl hp EFI mercury engines.

i know that these little outboard are very thirsty but im just trying to figure out how thirsty exactly they are.

what i usually do is head out 1 or 2 miles full speed and then i usually troll in the 7 mph range all day, usually doing between 20 to 30 miles per day.

with the big boat i used to average mile per gallon, and im just really afraid that this cute little 24ft is going to cost me more on fuel then the huge 40ft monster i used to have.
even if they consume a little less, i still have the higher price of fuel compared to diesel !!?

anyone can give me some number on average fuel consumption on trolling speed, half and full throttle please for the mercury 150 efi, i would very much appreciate it.

Very roughly speaking the 2 150s will use fuel at a rate of about 10% of the rated hp at wot. About 15 gph. per engine.
That 10% rate is about the same regardless if its a houseboat or a runabout.MPG of course responds to speed.
Lesser amounts you may have to test run. The are flow meters that will also do real time calculations.

Pretty typical day for me. Run out 8-10 miles, troll 3-4 kts, 6-8 hours. Easy 30 miles, typically more. Burn anywhere from 15-20 gallons a morning.

No need to troll two motor. Just switch back and forth to balance engine hours. One day starboard the next port

Fwiw: 2.19 mpg at 26 kt cruise with 200 hp carbed motor. You shouldn't do too much worst with twin EFI.
