I just acquired a painted over 3.6 model antique Firestone motor.

I was barely able to make out on the makers plate, that it was indeed a Firestone motor. The plate ID "looks" like it says 0251258 followed by 133-2-1025.

I can read that it is a 3.6 HP at 4,000 rpm on the plate, but am trying to determine the year of the model, so when I'm working on the restore, I can paint it back its original color.

Any help would be appreciated. I'll try to get a pic up, but it probably won't help much as its been painted over many times from what I can tell.

Thanks.

if you go on the web site discount marine parts.com they have a brief history and a model number guide for firestone outboards. also on youtube there is a fully restored 3.6hp. not sure if its the same but you can maybe find out. the model number you gave i could not see it. i saw 133-3 but not 133-2. good luck

Awesome guys. Thanks so much for your help. Would have never found that otherwise. 1952 model. Now I can find the paint I need. I'll post before and after pics on it. Should be a fun project.
