correct oil mixture

on a 40:1 ration where there should b 8 ounces of oil for every 2.5 gallons, how many ounces of oil should i add to 6 gallons of gas?

Here's what I found:

To calculate any ratio you want for mixing your oil and gas simply take 128 (the number of ounces in a gallon) and divide it by the mixture you want (24:1 use the 24 or 40:1 use 40).
The result will be how many ounces of oil you should add per gallon of gas to achieve your desired mix ratio.

For example:
For a 40:1 mix 128/40 = 3.2 so you would add 3.2oz of oil to each gallon of gas to achieve a 40:1 mix

That would equal 19.2oz. for 6 gals.........

When you use 16oz for 6 gals, it's actually 48:1. So, a tad heavier than 50:1.
