1992 Yamaha Pro V outboard - good or bad idea ?

I'm thinking of buying a boat with a 1992 Yamaha Pro V outboard on it. Is that a good motor ? Do you think it would still be reliable ?

with due diligence on your part why not?i have a 1939 evinrude that runs like a top and a 1957 Johnson that id use everyday if the need arose.check compression ,look for leaks ,check lowerunit oil for leaks ,overall condition tells me a lot about how the seller treats his toys.
