Kicker mounting on my boat, stumped. **PICS**

In the first pic you can see the water line. It is right about 20" from the top of the swim step. The bottom of the hull is another 10-15 inches below that.

My thoughts initially are to have something custom made that mount to the top of the swim platform, but hangs off and drops a bit for the mounting pad.

Another option that I haven't done any measuring for:

I think the bracket would have to go out quite a bit further than this in order for the motor to be able to tilt up and not hit the swim step.

I might have to get really custom and do one that mounts to both the transom and the top of the swim step.

Although the boat is capable at going trolling speeds without a kicker, I want to try and keep the hours off the big motor and also try and limit the amount of fuel it sucks down.

Also, its nice to have a back-up.

Any input would be great..........

Not sure what the solution is, but I will add that you need to make sure you get a kicker that has electric start and that you're capable of steering from the helm. I mention that because once it's in the water, regardless of what type bracket you end up, you won't be able to reach it from the looks of it. I think I'd agree on the "getting really custom" plan.

My advice on that boat is to forget the kicker idea. You have numerous obstacles and if you miscalculate you could have a hole in your transom FG or your kicker would be at the bottom of the water. Besides being in your way, you can bet that FG back there is un supported to the point needed to make a kicker work. And remember the physics of torque and distance, measured in ft-lbs (distance x lbs of torque). The farther you move your kicker back from it's mounting point, the more the thrust is amplified when applied to the boat mounting point meaning the huskier the mounting to the boat has to be.

you might consider an IO mounted electric troller. They bolt to one of the outdrives

Even if you had room to build an "L-shaped" bracket, and laid it down on it's side on the swim platform, and IF say a 25" XL Shaft kicker would be long enough to get the Cavitation Plate in the right spot on proportion to the water (and those are pretty big if's) how would you steer/start/throttle it? It would be set too far aft to attach a control bar from the lower unit, so you'd be looking at "2 steering wheels?" Maybe I'm just not visualizing very well. I'm starting to think Texasmark has nailed it, and I like challenges, lol.

We have just mounted a 9.9 25 " Yamaha to the back of our Bayliner 2352.It can be done although gave me alot of grief. We had to use 2 brackets..one custom made and a drop down bracket attached to the first bracket. Not cheap..you do need power tilt and trim and remote steering to make it work.

Well worth the money and time.
