I have a 97' Ranger fish/Ski model 397. The rear seat base plate where the ski pole and seat pole inserts into cracked? I have a new bracket but I havent even began to look into how to replace it actually from the decking? Any suggestions with out cutting the carpet, which appears to be the easiest way to accomplish the repair?

Can you just unscrew the base and replace with a new one of the same type?

Yes i can but its under the carpet and the pannel doesn't appear to just come out by itself? The livewell doors appear to be attached to this pannel as well. I could make it simple like i said and cut the carpet and access the bolts from in the livewell but I just wanted to see if there were any other ideas?

Maybe snap a picture. If you you do cut the carpet, cut it nice and even and re glue it down after the repair w/ marine glue or 3m spray.
