DO you think it would be ok to reuse the rack unit itself and replace the cable on a Morse R&P steering unit that was originally on a boat that had a 50 hp outboard? I want to put it on my "new" boat that has a 115hp outboard.

Sure, if it is in good condition and you can get a new cable, why not? Something you might consider though, the Morse company was sold to Teleflex. Teleflex never was too fond of their arch rival, Morse, and almost seems bent on getting rid of their products. It just might be obsolete next year (??).

Yeah, I've already found replacement cables. Iboats is out of stock ( I need a 20' cable) but I did find it elsewhere.
