I picked these up last summer and rebuilt them over the winter. The '58 Sportwin came as a complete but locked up motor, while the '60 came in a box with some assembly required. Both got rebuilt powerheads, and the '60 also had the lower unit rebuilt as I discovered that the gears were shot after I ran it the first time and it had a rhythmic chunk-chunk-chunk sound to it. All of bronze bushings on the propshaft were hogged out - VERY sloppy. Fortunately the pinion bushing was not bad, so I was able to use the innards from another unit and return it to service.

The '58 is on my 12-foot Duranautic which snaps right along, while the '60 is on a 14-foot Starcraft which planes off, but you can really feel the bigger boat.

Yeah, of the two, I think I may keep the '58 in the stable and let the '60 go.
I've got a '62 Johnson 10 in the works, too, but am stalled at pistons. They are the later style pistons with the larger wrist pin that uses needle bearings in place of the earlier bronze bearing. In all, I've picked up a half dozen 10s in the last year or so. Two run, three were parts motors and the third is the '62 Johnson that is almost there... Two of the parts motors donated parts to the '58 and '60.
