I have 2 1999 yamaha 250's and they look a bit tired, but only have 1,000 hours on them. The exterior of the powerheads have some pitting and rust in numerous places. Additionally, they are greasy/oily all over. Does anyone know how to remove some minor rust spots and pitting, and clean them up?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to make them shine like new motors!!!!

IMHO: Only new motors look like new motors. An 11 yr old can't look like a newborn. Degrease and wire brush (Dremel) pits, then paint.

agreed 100%, but what do you repaint with? I don't want to make it look like a ghetto job. Is it ok to use normal engine cleaner on an outboard?
