I'm looking to purchase a 24' 2009 Tahoe Pontoon.

My current engine choices are 2005 75 HP Mercury or a 2000 90 HP Suzuki--both are 4 stroke.

Toons are 25". Wanting to pull the occasional tuber or knee boarder. Will be used on big water in northern MN.

I need help narrowing down the engine from someone who knows outboards better than myself.

THANKS!

I would be partial to the Mercury in this case just due to remaining life expectancy.

Since you are talking water sports (towing) the 15 extra ponies will be to your benefit. You then need to determine whether five years newer and 15 ponies less is better than five years older and 15 ponies more. That determination can only be helped by looking at service records. Both of those motors should have ECMs that can display the true engine hour and time @ various RPM charts. If the Suzy has less time on it than the Merc this becomes an easy choice.
