if your lucky it might plane off, but 25hp on a boat rated for 60 is going to be pretty weak.

If you go to BPS you will notice most of the boats are under powered as a price point and allows them to sell up. Min should be 75% of rated power for good performance. Your best will be in the range of 18 to 22kts. This is lightly loaded. IF it will get on a plane!

i believe she's a 1992.. in pristine shape. well taken care of i guess. also a older man had owned it...motor was barely used. factory paint is still on the flywheel teeth!

My buddy has a 91 Tracker T17 with a 25HP 2 stroke and it moves pretty good.. The older Trackers were made a lot lighter than the later models, you'll plane out but your hole shot won't be the greatest. Figure about 25mph max with 1 person in the boat. That should be fast enough for weekend fishing trips. If you want more speed, go with a 50HP 2 stroke.

That year Tracker is lightweight and has a fast hull. Factor in the fact that the motor is a 2 stroke which is lighter than a 4 stroke. If you balance it out just right you'll plane with no problems, i.e. watch your fuel tank level, store your batteries on the port side, fill livewell only when needed, etc. I'd recommend getting a hydroplane for the motor, it will make a big difference.

I have a 92 T17 Tracker with a 50hp Evinrude and it gets up to around 42mph with 1 person, empty livewell and minimal fuel in the tank. I'm running a 19" pitch cupped prop. This thing is fast for a Tracker.

With a Tracker, you'll learn to be aware of the balance. They're really light boats.

That boat will have a very shallow draft. My T17 can troll in a foot of water.

I think you might be suprised with the 25hp on there. It's lighter than a 50hp and will use less gas. Downside is most of them didn't come with power trim. If you're going to add a lot of gear like I did, you'll want a 50hp. Note the anchor winch, 3 batteries onboard, wireless trolling motor, etc....

Re: 16ft bass tracker w. 25hp

Thanks, I got it for $2200 last spring. I sold the trolling motor and fishfinder on eBay, and got new Lowrance units and a wireless MG on sale at Cabelas.

I think mine is around 60" wide. Is your boat a tournament with full decks like mine?

I normally run the boat with two batteries if I have someone with me, if it's just me I put in a third. The third battery is to counter my weight. The boat will lean otherwise, and I weight around 190.

I also have an uncle with a T16, he has a 25hp on it. We used it on the White River in Arkansas last summer and it ran great, even upstream.

Oh yes, very nice boat.... Those are hard to come by up here in the northeast. I take back what I said about the 25hp, you might want to get a 40hp or 50hp for that. It's going to be more stable than mine too, because the hull is different. I think you got a great deal on it, it looks like it's in excellent shape and will be great for any kind of fishing. Heads will turn.

Fish on,
