I have a 15 hp yamaha, 1995, that unfortunately fell off the back of my trailer and may not be saveable. Meanwhile, I have a 14ft aluminum Sea Nymph, and a family of 4 whose total weight is 500-600 lbs.
Someone told me that a modern 9.9 hp motor may be equivalent in delivered power to the 1995 15 hp. Is this true? Can I get away with a lower hp motor and not even notice it? (It was a 2 stroke)
