I have what I believe to be a 1933 Johnson Sea Horse Model J-65 Serial # 200685. I would like to know the value of it or where to go to find out its value. Last time out it ran and appears to have compression. Thanks for any help in advance.

1933 Johnson 1.4 hp. Value is subjective. I don't have my copy of the "Old Outboard Book" with me, but I would expect its value is in the $100 range. However, those motors are not my area of expertise.

Peter Hunn's "Old Outboard Book" 3th ed. shows four levels of condition and ranges from in value from $125 for a "really pretty outboard that runs well" to $15 for an outboard that "...is typically rusted, corroded or missing parts". Yours appears to be in condition 2, which would suggest a value in the neighbourhood of $85. I'd still ask $100.

What I have found so far is there were 41,152 motors made in 1933 and this one was probably made in mid October. I appreciate your input bweaton. Thank You.
