Any opinions on this year and model for Saltwater use?

Was it used in salt water for the previous 12 years? Was it well maintained? A 12 year old outboard could be worth close to new or not worth the weight in scrap metal, it all depends on how well it was maintained.

Thanks for the reply. I was told it was exclusively used in fresh water until two years ago. Since then it was used in salt 5 times. Owner/dealer? states motor runs excellent.

Just make sure you check or have the compression checked as well as a leak down test. Will the dealer warranty for 6 months. Make sure you are there to observe the testing if it is performed at the dealer where you are buying the outboard.

I may not have the opportunity to do more then hear it run and shift gears. It's an auction on Ebay ending in a few hours. No warranty. Seller states it runs execellent. see ebay listing below.

NADA lists the boat for $2100-2400 and the outboard for $1600-1800. Trailer list for $300. If the units are in better than average then the real value can be much higher.

Great Info Thanks! I am planning to bid once near the end of the auction. If I take it for just over $3,000 i will take my chances. If I win and later find out that it was listed inaccurately, I will back out under false pretenses.

Did you get it? I see someone got the package for $3600. Hope you got what you wanted.
