have 1991 25hp johnson 2- stroke. the noise suppressing foam on the inside of the cowling is breaking down. i dont want the dust sucked up by the carbs. so does anyone know what material to replace it with? should i worry about the dust being sucked into system? any ideas on what may cause this condition? thanks in advance....Bill

Hi Bill,
The dust probably won't cause any problems in the motor as the foam will likely just blow through. Still, it doesn't hurt to clean it all out and either do away with it entirely or install new foam...

Thanks very much for the info. I think I'll finish taking the foam out and try it without. If it's too noisy, I'll try something new. Thanks again....Bill
