what is the best lower unit oil for Honda 5

What is the best type of lower unit oil to use for a 5 hp honda about 5-6 yrs old? The manual say sae 90 hypoid oil but my outboard mechanic laughed at that idea plus I can not even find marine sae 90 oil.????????

you want the hyp 90 outboard lower unit oil. rather than plain 90wt. lower oil has additives, to counter water intrusion. walmart sells it, shell, pennsoil,omc, mercury and many others. the synthetics are said to be good. it should be change yearly, in the fall before the first freeze.
